Actually, twhirl does have direct message support (has done so for some time).

The latest build also uses a lot less ram (more of an Adobe Air issue).

Oh, man -- you can't leave out Twitterbar. It's a Firefox plugin that lets you post tweets from your address bar, no separate client needed!

I was reading through this thinking, "Man, he better mention Digsby at least once" :)

@Mike, How could I forget, after all its my favorite IM client.

@Brendan, Thanks for the info. The last time I tried it, the feature didn't exist though.

@Andrew, Will check out Twitterbar. Thanks for the heads up.

twhirl does have direct message support, in newer versions. Now it's more compact with sleek interface. I use twhirl for my tweets.

Thanks for the kind words about Spaz. It actually *does* have keyboard shortcut support. Check the help for a full list.

Spaz crashed a lot on my Windows XP SP2, At present am using twhirl and I bet its the best standalone app twiiter client.

I also use TwitterFox and it is very small, started with it and then moved to twhirl. The only problem with TwitterFox is that you need to keep Firefox running even when you dont to keep it open.
